1. Online Application: After completing the online application, print or save a copy of the confirmation page for your records. You will apply through one of the following links:
2. Application Fee: A non-refundable $65.00 U.S. is required for all SUNY Buffalo State Graduate School applicants. This fee can be paid online through VISA or Mastercard by logging into your previous application.

3. English Proficiency Statement: All degree seeking students must complete the English Proficiency Statement. This form can be found on the online application and submitted electronically. The student will indicate who their site coordinator is to have the form sent for approval by their site. If the person you would like to sign the form is not listed, you may include another email by selecting “other.”
4. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended: Students must submit official copies of their transcripts in sealed envelopes from all higher education institutions attended. This includes transcripts for any coursework that was transferred into another institution’s degree and any coursework that may be considered for transfer credit. Students can have the institutions mail or email their transcripts directly to Kera Franceschini at francekm@buffalostate.edu or the addresses provided above. Applicants may submit sealed transcripts by mail or email. SUNY Buffalo State can accept electronic official documents directly from another university but not from a student. Please ask for clarification if you are unsure of what documents can be sent electronically via email.

Certified English translation of transcripts: Applicants who completed their undergraduate degrees from post-secondary schools, where English was NOT the first language, must submit a certified English translation of all official transcripts along with their official or certified true copies of their transcripts.
6. Degree evaluation: Applicants holding undergraduate degrees from anywhere outside of the United States, must have a degree evaluation completed. Applicants from a Canadian college or university where transcripts follow a system similar to that of the United States, will be evaluated locally. If not, Canadian applicants will be required to comply with the international student credential policy.
Applicants must contact one of the following credential evaluation agencies and request a course-by-course with GPA evaluation, as well as request certified, true copies of their transcripts to determine equivalency to a U.S. bachelor’s degree. If a student requests to have their certified, true copies of their transcripts attached to their evaluation, they will not need to send them directly to our office (numbers 4 & 5).
Applicants must contact the agency for the most current requirements and fees to request or download an application. When requesting an evaluation, please list SUNY Buffalo State as the recipient. The evaluation agency must send your course-by-course with GPA evaluation and true, certified transcripts directly to our office. Applicant copies will not be accepted nor evaluations from any other agency or service.
The process can take up to four – six weeks to complete after the agency has received your documents. Your Application for Admission to SUNY Buffalo State will not be reviewed until the evaluation has been received directly from the agency.
