The Office of International Graduate Programs for Educators (IGPE) at SUNY Buffalo State offers a Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies degree for educators working at American/International Schools. IGPE also offers professional development with the option of graduate credit for regional education association conferences, institutes, and other special projects, as well as workshops coordinated by IGPE.
International/American school partners collaborate with the SUNY Buffalo State IGPE office to develop professional development and master's degree opportunities for educators abroad. Together the partners arrange schedules and logistics for IGPE instructors to provide courses and professional development workshops at the host school. The flexible and collaborative approach facilitates the design of a program that aligns with the school’s professional development initiatives and the faculty’s specific needs. Program courses and professional development apply across grade levels and curricula providing for the diverse needs of overseas educators.
International teachers and administrators at IGPE partner host schools complete coursework on-site to earn a Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies degree from SUNY Buffalo State. The master degree program is provided by university faculty and hosted by American/International schools for cohorts of education professionals. The entire program requires ten courses that can be delivered at the school site, electronically, or through a combined approach of on-site/on-line instruction.
Micro-credentials allow individuals and host schools to target a specific area of professional development within the degree such as educational leadership, technology, special education. Micro-credentials are appealing due to their flexibility, robust course sequences, and the rich opportunities they provide for those searching for an alternative to a traditional degree program.
